Mark Lippman has been practicing law for nearly 30 years. Since 1996, he has been representing disabled veterans in their appeals for VA disability.
As a widely respected advocate for our nation’s disabled veterans, he has helped thousands of veterans with claims originating from peacetime and wartime injuries, including both physical and psychological disabilities.
With his broad appellate experience, Mark has helped clients fight back and achieve the best possible result for their claims. He has represented cases at the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and other federal appellate courts throughout the United States.

Amanda Mineer is an attorney with over ten years of experience practicing law. In 2003, she graduated from the University of San Diego Law School. She then started her own practice in 2005, with a focus on helping entrepreneurs start their businesses.
After witnessing a close friend struggle with a veterans disability claim for several years, Amanda decided to apply her advocacy skills towards helping veterans navigate the frustrating and complicated VA system.
Since joining the Veteran’s Law Group in 2013, Amanda has helped us to strengthen our ability to serve veterans, giving them the support they need through difficult claims processes. Her compassion for veterans, along with her ability to translate legal jargon into easy-to-understand language, allows her to help you, as our client, get the benefits you deserve. She also serves as an educator to VSOs/VSRs across the country to help them better serve veterans in the early stages of their claims.
Laura Pflugfelder is a VA-accredited attorney who represents veterans in all phases of their disability appeals. She leads hearings before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) in Washington D.C., and with Decision Review Officers (DRO) at the Regional Office, and she is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. She has participated in hundreds of veterans’ cases to date and stays on top of the VA’s latest developments through participation in organizations such as the National Organization for Veterans Advocates (NOVA).
Laura graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2013, where, she interned for an Arizona Superior Court Judge. She also worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the University of San Diego Civil Clinic, where she represented clients in court under the supervision of an attorney.
After graduating from law school, Laura worked as a post-bar law clerk at the university’s legal clinics in the areas of tax and entrepreneurship. This experience helped prepare her to assist veterans in navigating the often frustrating VA system. Her compassion for veterans, combined with her ability to decipher and explain legal language and processes, make her especially prepared to help you, our client, obtain the benefits you deserve.
Star Brewer is a U.S. Air Force veteran who completed the University of San Diego Paralegal Program and joined our team in December 2015 as a Veterans Law Paralegal. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from American Military University and is pursuing a Master’s Degree from National University, both in forensics.
For four years, Brewer served in the Security Forces and Law Enforcement division of the U.S. Air Force, improving the safety of airmen at Edwards Air Force base by protecting vital assets and facilities. As both a veteran and a parent who navigated the challenges of starting a family while on active duty, Brewer is passionate about helping fellow veterans get the benefits they need while transitioning back to civilian life.
Brewer draws from a combined background in legal justice, military law enforcement and veteran affairs to advocate for clients and keep them informed about their options. She understands the importance of handling every detail of VA claims with care and accuracy and values the rewarding job of guiding veterans closer to achieving success in their cases. Brewer is committed to supporting clients throughout the complex claims process and works diligently to help you obtain the benefits you deserve.
Steve Vasquez joined us as a Veterans Law Paralegal in November 2015 after earning his paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Texas at San Antonio and in Communications from the University of North Texas.
Steve served in the Air Force Reserves Medical Group for the 433rd Airlift Wing for six years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, and he worked as an Academic Affairs Coordinator for the University of Phoenix for three years. With his boundless respect for servicemen and women, Steve is dedicated to being part of a team that provides qualified representation to veterans who need strong advocacy to obtain their due disability benefits.
Steve focuses on maintaining accurate documentation and internal databases while coordinating any information attorneys need to build solid casework. He knows how crucial it is for clients to feel included and devotes time to answering questions to keep veterans up to date on the status of their case. Edward Barick joined us in October 2015 as a Veterans Law Paralegal. Mr. Barick graduated from the University of San Diego Paralegal Program in September 2015. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing.
Mr. Barick served on active duty from April 1993 until July 2005. During that time, he served as military law enforcement and was deployed 11 times. He served on the USS Kittyhawk off the coast of Afghanistan after 9/11, as part of a platform for the Army Special Forces that conducted missions into the country.
Mr. Barick’s desire to help fellow veterans stems from his extensive military background and personal experience with the VA. He focuses on finding answers to their questions and guiding them towards getting their claims approved. As a paralegal, he is their first point of contact and a powerful advocate. He assists veterans in locating resources and creating case files, which makes him especially effective in helping you, our client, obtain the benefits you deserve.
Violet is a third generation veteran who served in the 1991 Gulf War with the 129th Evacuation hospital and is a proud member of VFW Post 3783. Before joining the firm in 2017, Violet spent twenty five years at Palomar Health Center first as a phlebotomist and eventually working her way up to Administration where she supported multiple Directors and departments. Violet also supervised a team of nursing students while steering education and training efforts as the Communication Champion for the move into the new $1 Billion Palomar Medical Center built in North County. She is passionate about building positive relationships and serving the community as evident by her various volunteer projects. She serves as the recognition and appreciation lead for the Red Cross, is a member of the United Cerebral Palsy No limits Steering Committee and has been to both Mexico and Fiji on mission trips providing education, support and care. She even serves on the Ramona Pony Baseball Board which allows her to participate in her favorite sport with her husband and five sons. Violet was recruited because of her outstanding communication skills, experience in customer relations and her passion for giving a voice to those who have been silenced by adversity. She loves talking with Veterans and is immensely grateful to hear their stories and for the opportunity to get them the benefits they deserve.
Kris DeRobertis joined Veterans Law Group in September 2016. Her focus is administration, keeping client information and files up to date for the attorneys and paralegals. She thrives behind the scenes, helping the team be a voice for disabled veterans. Her family has served our great nation for generations. She was a stay at home mom of three, and Marine Corps wife for years. She raised her family with an appreciation for the integrity and pride that goes along with the military lifestyle. Veterans, service members and their families have a most special place in her heart. She feels very honored to be part of such a caring, compassionate and dedicated team that guides and assists our disabled veterans with their claims so that they can receive the benefits they so richly deserve.
